A man is free to be a citizen or a consumer. It is harder to be a citizen than a consumer. It always had been this way and always will be, because it is harder to be a decent person than a mediocre one.

In other words, this text is a shallow socialistic propaganda, pleasing people who cannot be good on their own and seek excuses for their mediocrity as members of a group. Socialism ennobles mediocrity of consumers, giving them illusion that they can call themselves citizens in a totalitarian system.

This piece of socialistic propaganda was put up front by leaning toward socialism Medium editors. My, much better written texts on the subject, did not get any comparable exposure on Medium. Publishing only one-sided texts under the headline of Dialogue and Discourse is a mockery of an actual opinion exchange. It takes an eye of someone as me, who lived a meaningful part of my adult life in the socialistic country, to notice this.
