Being right is not enough, especially in persuasive writing, that I practice. One needs to be persistent and have patience and a thick skin for haters.
Avoiding offending people of opposite views is the first rule in being effective. There is a subtle line between telling someone that they are wrong and calling them stupid. One might be surprised how often otherwise smart people could be deeply misinformed on some issues.
When working in teams, being right often means recognizing quickly that someone else might have a better take than our opening position. For a leader, that ability makes a difference between succeeding and failing.
