But I would not be myself if I did not have a troubling question.

How many of that one million members are here just for reading?

What is the attrition? In other words, how long do members stay? How many among those who stay are readers, and how many of those who remain are writers?

Lastly, I suspended my membership for more than a year, disappointed with editorial policy promoting texts of one-sided political leaning. I reinstated my membership recently, not because I see a change for the better, but because I see a need to write again about Medium.
