Do not get frustrated. As of this moment, I have 2,921 followers. I suspect that at least half of them, if not 80%, are some bots or other fictitious identities.

Also, many “followers” are not actual followers. They are writers craving for readers. They clicked to follow you, hoping that you would reciprocate in reading their articles despite that they do not read yours.

In short, I have a group of several Medium members who at least occasionally check my writings. In other words, that whole concept of “following” is big baloney.

In my experience, the only way to get a meaningful readership is by being listed in Medium’s Daily Digest. What is your chance of getting there if someone follows a few thousand writers? At least, it is my case because the ideological leaning of my writing is not supported by Medium.
