Erik,

Can I ask, what do you mean by open borders?

For 36 years, I have been living in the United States, but I am originally from Poland. During my visit to Poland in 2005, in almost every other window on the main street in Gdańsk, I saw advertising for jobs abroad, mainly in UK and Ireland. It was easy to go there and get a job. In my eyes, it was a textbook example of open borders. Did it cause a cataclysm in Ireland or UK?

If you can, please do not answer here in the comments section, but consider writing a short column just addressing this one aspect of the open border question. Then, if you would be so kind, please submit your article to https://virtualagora.us/. In this new publication, we try to conduct political debates. We selected immigration as the dominant subject at the start. As you likely know, immigration is a big mess in the United States. Your input will be a valuable contribution from a sideline.
