Good writing.
But I doubt that rural areas receive more government funding. It could be if one counts roads, bridges, and schools. But these investments do not make Chicago heavily Democratic. It is unions that pay themselves $50 minimum wage when “fighting” for $15 minimum wage for others. Employees of all government agencies are unionized as well.
From that Chicago perspective, I see that Nebraska folks have a better sense of what is good for the nation.
