I am a political writer for half of a century and do not recognize anything you describe in your article.
For a real writer, finding an idea for a new article is as hard as finding an occasion to have a drink for an alcoholic.
But I have long periods of abstinence from writing, mostly when I feel that my writing is as – quoting my literature teacher – throwing the pearls in front of boars.
In my book, aspiring writers with a creativity block should be encouraged to read first. In particular, the writings of authors who have something to say. And writing a polemic is the end to the creativity block.
