I am an Americanized Pole and inclined to agree with you. Polish literature also has its nationalistic twist. It is the way people saw things back then.

After the atrocities of WWI and WWII, and with technology turning the world into a global village, people started noticing that working together is more beneficial to everyone than fighting each other.
