I grew up in racially monolithic Poland. The only Black person I met was my college colleague from Nigeria. As the only one Black, he was the celebrity in the group. I arrived in the United States in my middle 30s. I do not buy the mantra of this article. But people like Allison Gaines would call me a racist.
