I heard a different version of the same events.

British bankers financed the industrial growth of the United States in the 19th century. Parallel to that, there was an ongoing struggle for the right to issue the currency. In Europe, central banks did it. In the United States, attempts to create such a bank were short-lived until 1913, when the Federal Reserve was created.

Skeptics see the financial crisis of 1907 as artificially boosted by the bankers to gain popular support for the concept of the Federal Reserve Bank. On this occasion, it is worth reminding that many Americans question if we need it.
