I left Poland 36 years ago. At that time, many Poles used the “f” word (it is “p” in Polish) as a comma, but I did not, and most people I mingled with did not do either. During my recent visits to Poland, I got an impression that the use of profanities diminished. But, maybe I met the wrong people.

It is my impression that in the U.S., the “f” word is used more casually than the “p” word in Poland. But again, I avoid doing that, and most people I mingle with do the same. I read many publications on the internet, and Medium is the only one where the “f” word can be found all over the place.

Some writers use profanities to stress the importance of the matters and arguments presented. In my book, they show that they lack better arguments.

It is especially sad in the case of this article by Katie Jagln. She is a keen observer. I agree with her remarks. Profanities impair the quality of her writing.
