I live in the Chicago area. Many Teslas are driving in my area. The closest charging station is near my house.
But twelve years ago I bought a Prius. Not because I cared about the Earth, but because my job at that time required a lot of driving, and the gas was expensive.
A little more I paid for the Prius, paid back within the first two years.
Prius gave me more than 600 miles of driving range, double what EVs had at that time, and without worrying about finding a charging station and waiting for charging to complete.
My Prius, with 254,000 miles on it still runs fine. But if the moment comes I want a hybrid again. Now they have an option of running on the charged battery for short distances, perfect for daily errands.
My budget and convenience dictate my decision.
For those, who care about Earth, my Prius still burns about half of the gas than other cars of similar size.
My family friends bought an EV as a third car for the family. They use it for city driving. And this is a solid market for EVs.
