I read the article and most of comments. Many my texts have been rejected, by both male and female editors. However, Laura Kiesel is correct, most of these editors were white men.
Why they rejected my texts? Mostly because the ideological line of the editorial board and the paper’s owners did not align with the message in my texts. Some of my texts have not been accepted simply due to the lack of competence of the editors who were no smart enough to recognize the value of the text in front of them. In a few instances, I verified that by publishing the same text in a better publication.
In one case, an editor who officially did not reject my text was postponing its publication. As he was my good friend and a mentor who published many of my texts, I asked him what was wrong with that text. His answer was that the text was good, but when I pressed a little, he acknowledged: “We have been accustomed to get better texts from you.” That text was never published.
Summarizing, the male editor in question seems to me both incompetent and having ideological bias. But, on the other hand, the thesis of this essay by Laura Kiesel that only white males can be incompetent and biased, seems to me equally incompetent and biased.
