I think I read in the "Up the Organization" by Robert Townsend that the boss of a professional establishment should have around at least a few people ready to tell him or her that their newest idea is the stupidest one they have heard of. In healthy organizations, bosses welcome critique because their job is not to prove how smart they are; it is to use the ingenuity of their staff to advance the venture.
