I would not dismiss the argument by Maya Melamed about the uncertainty of climate science as we have it. Then, what if human actions triggered some forces of nature unleashing powers beyond human control? A person can cause an avalanche, but there is no human power to stop it when it is already going. Are you sure that this is not the case? Just this one possibility put us at risk that even if we spend on the “urgent action” all the money we have and all the money we can borrow, we would not be able to make a difference. Would it not be more beneficial to save all this money for protecting ourselves from the unavoidable, the same as we protect ourselves from hurricanes?
