In 2020, due to the pandemic, CO2 emissions fell by 7%. But still CO2 level in atmosphere slightly increased.

It simply confirms the voice of skeptics that naturally emitted greenhouse gases, primary methane from the permafrost, are the main cause of global warming.

Behind this phenomenon is Glacial Isostatic Adjustment. About 20,000 years ago, glaciers covered large swaths of the Northern Hemisphere. Then the glacier started shrinking but never stopped. The land freed from the weight of ice did not press the magma as much and started rising. That magma flows from under the south sections of the Earth. As a result, South Carolina is sinking, Canada is rising. The same, on a bigger scale, is happening in Siberia. Warming permafrost emits methane that warms the Earth, casing oceans releasing CO2, also a greenhouse gas.

Even if we shut down China and India altogether, it will not stop the Glacial Isostatic Adjustment.
