In the 1830s, Alexis de Tocqueville published his two volumes of “Democracy in America,” which is still considered the best book about the American republic ever written. Marc Barham writes as if he never read it.

Alexis de Tocqueville commented on this article the best when noticing that Americans have no patience to read and learn complex subjects but are quick to form shallow opinions and stick to them.

I am posting this comment only because today, this article was at the top of the recommendations from the medium editors. Likely, they did not read Alexi de Tocqueville either.
