Jari, I read your article only because it was recommended in my Medium Daily Digest. Also, it is the only reason I write this comment.

I skimmed your last twenty articles or so. All of them are about things we should learn in high school if one had been paying attention. I did it. Many did not. They might not be as productive and not as happy in life as those who can better manage their work and other life affairs. Instead of rolling up their sleeves and getting to work, many of them fall for an illusion that reading articles like yours is an easy shortcut to success.

You offer what I call potato chip writings. Formally you are not a writer, but a transcriber, who picks up easy to resell pieces of information and process them in your potato chip manufacture.

In your defense, there is nothing wrong with doing that. By the way, your articles are good; you reached a craftsman’s mastery. I occasionally read articles like yours, as often as I eat potato chips.

Sadly, most Americans are obese because of their poor eating habits. Ergo, the problem is not in what you write but what people read and what Medium recommends to its members. Reading potato-chip-style writing is as good for people’s minds as actual potato chips are good for their bodies.

As one might guess, I elaborate on this subject in a separate article “Writing is not about writing.”
