All your progressive ideas are great. But, if engineers like myself followed lofty ideas, your car would not drive, but even if it did, the first bridge you would run over would collapse under its weight. It is noble to follow progressive ideas but to accomplish anything, we need to stick to what works. And to make it happen, we first need to make a profit because otherwise, to put progressive ideas into reality, we need to steal the money from people who can make a profit.
