Michelle, the above is a purely political statement expressing your apriori beliefs. The facts you bring in your article contradict it.

Practically, in the United States, we already have universal healthcare. The government is the main buyer of healthcare services. Big insurance companies are in cahoots, following the same pricing scheme.

In the discussion about health care, no one tries to understand what the problem is, how things work, and what it would take to fix them. The discussion is between supporters of populism. On one side are populists supporting socialism, and on the other side are populists supporting collusive capitalism. Both of them ask for the same, just in a different flavor.

Please check “The only preexisting condition that matters.” One of the best experts on health policy wrote to me, “you put it most clearly, in a way I should have thought of.” Medium editors did not even put that “distributed” mark on it. In short, you can make a difference right here on Medium. But the first step is to go to the bottom of the problem. I did it in 2009 when Obama announced the project ACA. I was shocked when finding how profound misinformation is in the mainstream media.
