My point is very simple; the technology is leading us toward replacement of fossil fuels by renewable energy. If we do nothing beyond what market forces would do anyway, the emissions of CO2 will decrease drastically, maybe 10 or 30 years later, comparing to us spending trillions of dollars, on credit, as you suggest. There is no proof that that the earth will cook beyond repairs if we do nothing.

Further, even if we spend all the money we can borrow, to do whatever you recommend, we still have no guarantee that this will stop global warming.
