OK, intrigued, I opened an account at ChatGPT, and ran a few tests, including the one mentioned in my challenge. I can assure @TonyStubblebine and his team that, so far, AI cannot compete with the kind of persuasive writing humans like myself offer. It can produce an intellectually unchallenging pulp that is easy to read. Some dunces might find it informative.
It might change in the future, but AI cannot offer creative writing; it is good at scribing. I explain that in my old article, “Writing is not about writing.”
Ergo, Tony and the team, you have a choice:
1. You can put your energy into chasing wannabe writers using AI for their potato chip-style writing.
2. You can focus on promoting human ingenuity, which will push trivia to the margin.
