Song Hongbing is looking how much wealth is accumulated by the top 10% in the U.S. Just before the crash in 1929 it was almost 50%, it was the same level in 2008. It was much less in 1940–80s. He concludes that an optimum is around 30–35%. It is his guesstimate, but intuitively I feel the same.
