The author of this article argues, as too many Americans do. No logic; facts are of secondary importance.

Facts:

1. Medium has more paying members, so money is coming.

2. Tony claims that many writers still receive decent pay.

3. Many writers who believe that they are good receive much less than before.

Two explanations are possible:

1. Medium pays writers a meaningfully smaller portion of its income. If you know something supporting this, spell it out. If you do not, shut up and look for facts.

2. Some changes in the operations of Medium made once-popular authors lose readers while others gained readers. If you do not have a clue what happened, investigate before writing.

For the record, I consider myself one of the best Medium writers and have never made any noticeable money for my articles published here. I know why and do not complain.
