The author realizes that the current immigration policy is the cause of all our problems. Misinformed Americans support this policy. Most politicians are equally incompetent. Those who understand the need for fundamental changes are afraid of speaking out, fearing losing the next election.

Consequently, the author is naïve in his assumption that some rational reform can happen without calling out bluntly the arrogant ignorance of leading politicians and pundits.
