The meaning in your sentence is that “we” pave the way to hell, but as everyone does it, I bear no responsibility for it.
I feel it so strongly because I grew up in the Soviet Bloc, where it was obvious that “we” could not do anything about it. You do not see the Soviet Union on the map because some people said, let me try to do something about it. I was among those who were willing to take some risks. At the right time, I was among those who did what it took for the Soviet system to collapse.
Today, the right question is what I can do today to make this war end as soon as possible. I explain it in my article “How could we end the war in Ukraine tomorrow?” Making that message strong puts Putin and his cronies with no honorable exit. If any of them ever want to get their yachts back, they need to depose Putin.
Amplifying that message can help more than the weapons we send to Ukraine. But, referring to your comment to my other article, that message is not supported on this platform for ideological reasons.
