The socialism label has long worked as a way to trick people into voting against programs they might actually love

I love all what socialism promises. It is prosperity for all, with multitude of free stuff. But, I know better. It does not work, never did, and never will. I experienced this myself by living in the socialistic country.

I hate capitalism, because if puts the onus on me in taking care of my affair. It is tough. But, I know better. With all its shortcomings it is the best system taking under consideration human nature. With all its imperfections, capitalism is much fairer than socialism. Socialism delivers much less than it promises. Capitalism promises nothing, but creates opportunities where sky is the limit.

I elaborate about it in this long essay: https://medium.com/@hak1010/capitalism-versus-socialism-9ece51b5ff29.
