The very concept of conservatism is worth consideration. As I wrote in: “The future has the great past, but the present stands in the way,” most of the problems we face in some fashion were better or worse resolved by our ancestors. So, in its original concept, conservatism meant to learn from history.

The author is correct that conservatism in the U.S. today is a quasi-religious doctrine.
