This reminds me a story that on a wooden fence someone wrote “ass.” A passerby got into the mood, stroke it and got a splinter in his finger. Criticizing conservatives can give one a splinter because this term lost its meaning. As I pointed it in my other comment, I wrote extensively on this subject.
