Tim’s article tells us that most people who answered his survey never should write because they have nothing to say. They should read a lot first.

He misses a very important reason that stops me from writing, and I guess not me only.

During my almost five years on Medium, I published only 97 articles. It averages one text every 19 days. I could probably write one article every four or five days with a little extra effort. I usually write in spurs of a few pieces per month and then take longer breaks.

I do not write more because, as my literature teacher used to complain, it is like throwing the pearls in front of boars. The Medium algorithm does value my writings and does not recommend it to readers.

Medium prefers potato chip style writing, like the one by Tim Denning, who publishes every day, often twice.

For me, “Writing is not about writing.”
