Tom, I read another article as well. You advocate for the right cause but use simplistic arguments and make elementary mistakes, like that instance of mixing the median with average. In short, your writing appeals to people sharing your point of view and is easy to dismiss by your opponents. If you are comfortable with that, you can stop reading.

I am devoting so much of my time to this issue because your article touches on the crux of capitalism. We need the filthy rich to make it work, but there is that subtle balance on how much of the total wealth the rich should keep. You are wrong as well when writing that we need those rich because the poor cannot buy enough to get the economy going. The United States became the economic power exactly because the opposite happened; poor people could afford to buy things that made others rich.

That mechanism does not work as well as it did in the past. In some of my articles, I explain the politics of those changes that hamper prosperity. You are welcome to check it out. But, I could not find any good study showing how wealth concentration and wealth distribution affect economic growth.
