Very well written. You explain that NATO was not threatening Russia; it was Ukraine itself.

As I wrote in one of my articles, Putin saw it as the last moment he could reverse the changes in Ukraine. He miscalculated; he came at least several years too late. But I doubt if, after 1991, Russia ever had a chance to take Ukraine back.
