We should protect the planet so that our descendants can enjoy life even more than we do. Taking about saving the planet is a political statement. It implies that without our sacrifice, the planet is already lost. Then, it is false because the wasteful lifestyle of affluent people is the most damaging. People living on the borderline of survival are naturally not wasteful.

Years back, I observed two households with the same number of people of similar income levels living next to each other in two twin houses. On the garbage pickup day, one family regularly had a lot more garbage than the other. During the housing crisis, they lost the house.

Before worrying about saving the planet, people could benefit more from learning how to save their level of living.
