Welcome to the world of professional journalism. Major publications like the WSJ or NYT do not publish opinion pieces commenting on other articles in the same periodical. It is in their submission rules. For comments, one can write a letter to the editor, they suggest. I suspect that it is the standard taught in the journalistic schools.

I can elaborate in length or, to be precise, copy and paste from the articles I wrote on this subject. But I will give you links:

It is editors’ fault” – I explain how this rule is a source of our inability to resolve our problems.

What did I learn from the world’s best editor?” – I write about my experience from writing for and working at the publication that encouraged polemics.

Facebook is evil because it is us” – I explain how that ridiculous rule elevated Facebook and alike into the most relevant forum for political debates.

Furthermore, I am an editor at Virtual Agora, a Medium publication devoted to publishing polemics. My first experiences indicate that writers are afraid of trying.

Also, many of my articles on Medium are polemics.

Lastly, as I include links to my three articles and mention my publication, some on Medium will accuse me that self-promotion is the sole cause for me posting this comment. It happened before.
