Yes and no.

We all cannot resist wasting some of our time on trivia.

But how much of it we waste there depends on how authentic conversations are on issues that matter. We have deep political divisions in the United States. We have global problems as well. We do not have media venues where the arguments of all parties are grilled to the bone. Ergo, a good article suggesting a realistic way of improvement deepens our frustrations because we know that it will not go to the top and will change nothing.

So why read? TikTok is funny; sometimes. But people are not lazy. They act rationally.
