Russia wants Ukraine because it is a rich country. As you might have guessed, I wrote about it:

“Putin wants Ukraine because it is a rich country.”

The West wants Ukraine in its club for the same reason.

The difference is that Russia wants Ukraine to extort from it, but the West wants it to cooperate in mutually beneficial growth.

Obviously, I wrote about that as well, even twice:
