You are wrong. That “asshole churning out 50 stories a day” is not hurting your bottom line and is not chasing readers away from Medium.
Readers leave Medium because of its obtrusive ideological agenda established by its founder, @EvWilliams. Unfortunately, the new CEO, @TonyStubblebine, cannot or does not want to change it. Editors like @ScottLambs, the author of this article, are incompetent or muffled in their ability to promote creativity over trifles.
As a result, in the Medium Daily Diggest, mindless texts dominate. There is barely anything there for readers seeking something beyond and above what the mainstream media offer.
Writing is like singing; most of us like to do it, but only very few can at the level others want to listen. The leaders at Medium did not get that yet.
